Be a friend to a child in crisis.

Friends of the Yolo Crisis Nursery

Friends of YCN participate in a host of annual projects and events to further our outreach and fundraiser goals.

The YCN Scarf was designed in 2005 to make a profound fashion statement — “I support the Yolo Crisis Nursery”.  Offered in both pink and black, these scarves are available for a donation of $30 at Savvy Shoppe in downtown Davis or by email below.

In conjunction with the Davis Bridge Foundation, F of YCN coordinated a breakfast hosted at Applebee’s in December 2005.

In April The Friends  coordinate an Annual Shopping Spree in conjunction with Child Abuse Prevention Month.  About 75 flower pots are placed in businesses all over Davis.  The campaign encourages patrons to make a donation and to choose one of the colorful "foam" flower pins and to wear it all month to support awareness about child abuse.  The community has really embraced the concept and have always given generously.

Different businesses have designated a particular Nursery Shopping Day; a percentage of the day's sales are then donated directly to the Nursery.  Each day in April is spoken for by a different business and the Friends print and distribute the shopping calendar as well as finance a marketing blitz in the local paper.

Downtown Shopping Days

Friends of YCN marched in the annual Picnic Day Parade to raise awareness.  The group also manned the Lost Child Booth at the event’s festivities.
